Tamasic foods include meat, garlic, onions, chives, shellfish, chilis, eggs, deep fried foods and fermented foods.

Appreciating your food

Reiki teachings portray that the spirit in which the food is prepared and the energy in which the food is eaten is transported into the food itself. The teachings describe the process of honoring your food when you are preparing it. Consciously bless the food and being grateful for its existence. Honor your food as “life giving life for life” and cherish it for just that, giving you energy and life. Saying a grace or blessing is common practice in many cultures and belief systems. Giving thanks to your food and implying what energies you give to it will benefit your soul and levels of energy.

A good way to remember to give thanks to your food is by saying silently or out loud, “I eat in clarity” or “I eat in love”. This helps to bring your mind to the task at hand and will therefore draw the most energy out of your food.
